Park City is a ski resort village that was originally a mining town. Shopping is plentiful from Historic Main Street to the Outlet Mall, with plenty of spots for food and drink as well.
The Utah Olympic Park is a training site for Olympic athletes, If you are at the Outlet Mall you are next to the Utah Olympic Park. There is a museum, bobsled experience, and zip-line!

Some trails near the Lodges at Deer Valley are the Snowtop Trail (easy), Upper Village Trail (intermediate), and Solamere Connector Trail (intermediate).
If you are renting a car, you can take the road to Guardsman’s Pass in Park City and drive down Big Cottonwood Canyon. There are plenty of sightseeing and hiking opportunities along the way.
From the bottom of Big Cottonwood Canyon, you can drive up Little Cottonwood Canyon (where Snowbird and Alta ski resorts are). Plenty of sightseeing and hiking here too.

About a 5 hour drive from Salt Lake City, Jackson Hole is near Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. It is a wonderful Western town in the Tetons that offers several outdoor activities.
About a 4 hour drive southeast of Salt Lake City, Moab is near Canyonlands and Arches National parks, The San Rafael Swell, and Goblin Valley.
Moab is in the middle of Red Rock Country and can offer activities such as whitewater rafting, hiking, and mountain biking.
Disconnect from technology, enjoy boat rides and hiking during the day, and camping and stargazing at night on a variety of white water rafting trips near Park City. Rafting trips depart out of Vernal or Green River, UT (both a 3 hour drive away).
